Tale of a Lake: Great reviews and opening weekend

Tale of a Lake was the third most watched film in Finnish theaters on its opening weekend, topped only by The Hateful Eight and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The largest film magazine in Finland, Episodi (in Finnish), gave it a 5/5 review stating:

It's hard to find anything to criticize. The visual language is powerful, music supports the scenes perfectly, editing is fluent and supports the stories, and the hard to film underwater world is sharp and bright.

The film also currently holds the #1 spot among their reviewers.

Helsingin Uutiset (in Finnish) also has a 5/5 review noting:

Tale of a Lake is an emotional adoration of the beauty of Finnish nature. It emphasizes the best parts of nature and tempts the viewer into visiting it themselves.
The visual narrative and the music of Panu Aaltio complement each other perfectly, with the tone changing from scene to scene. The vocalist Johanna Kurkela has a beautiful voice.
